Friday's Letters

Dear Job,
Some days I dislike you very much and can't wait to get away when the bell rings at 3 PM.  Other days I love you very much and never want to leave.  Today, I love you!  My students are being precious angels and I almost want to take them home with me for the weekend.  Let's hope they'll still be sweeties when Monday rolls back around!
We made marble paintings this morning!

Dear Symphony,
I am not exactly excited about you (don't tell husband!).  The last experience I had with you was when I had to go for a field trip in elementary school and I got in trouble for falling asleep (oops!).  I would appreciate it if you would pleasantly surprise me Saturday night.

Dear Sekisui,
You are hands-down our favorite restaurant in Birmingham.  Thank you for being 5 minutes away from where we live and for your Tornado Roll.  I will be enjoying your goodness Saturday night before the symphony and I. can't. wait.

Dear Husband,
I am praying that it won't rain this afternoon so that you can play disc golf with your friends.  You deserve it after your super hard test!  Also, I'm thrilled to have you back this weekend!  I get sad when you have an affair with your textbooks for weeks on end.
He sent me this picture of my two sweeties when I had to work late last night!

Happy Friday, everyone!  Hope you have a great weekend!

Wednesday Love

There isn't a whole lot to love about coming back to work after a nice week off, so this post is going to be short and sweet.

{1}
Last night we had a girl's night at Mafiaoza's.  I had such a great time catching up with friends!  All of our husbands have a big med school test on Friday so they're busy studying their butts off this week.  Perfect time for the girls to have some fun together!

{2}
I'm loving our treadmill right now.  I've gotten back to running almost every day and I feel so much better!  I have more energy and crave junk food a lot less.  Yay!

{3}
I'm always loving my husband.  Only he would be excited about going to the symphony this weekend and drag me along.  He's definitely one of a kind!

{4}
 I'm loving how long it stays light after dinner.  My favorite part of the day is taking Radley for a walk after dinner with Connor.  The weather has been just perfect!

What are you loving today?  Go link up!

I'm Back!

So you may or may not have noticed I've been missing for the past 1-2 weeks. Well, that's because it's been spring break (first my hubby's, then mine) and it's been too darn nice outside to stay in with my laptop.  Here's what I've been up to while taking a break from blogging:

This is where I was posted up all week with my kindle, magazines, and a glass of sweet tea.  I even have a suntan to prove it :).

I cleaned out and organized my closet.  SO exciting, I know.  {I actually am kind of excited about it.}  I didn't expect it to take a whole day, but it definitely did.  I switched out all my winter clothes for bright colored spring clothes!

Hanging out with my Radley baby.  She also did some sunbathing.

Date night on Friday!  Connor and I made stuffed pork chops with asparagus risotto and fruit salad - yum!  After dinner we went out and got frozen yogurt and then picked up The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo on Redbox.  I didn't know it was going to be so scary!  It was pretty good, but the ending was sad.

Lunch, pedicures, and shopping with my little sis.  We couldn't resist buying this sweet seersucker outfit and girly bib for our soon-to-be niece.  We got them both monogrammed, naturally.

A beautiful wedding of college friends on Saturday night.  We loved catching up with friends and being back at our alma mater!

Went to see The Hunger Games on Sunday afternoon.  LOVED it!

During my week off I came to the conclusion that I was born to be a stay-at-home mom {even if I'm just Radley's mommy}.  It was so nice!  Now it's back to the grind but summer is within sight.  Only 8 weeks and four days left of school!  Yay!  Now I will finally respond to your emails...oops!

Happy St. Paddy's Day!

Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone!  How are you celebrating this holiday?  I thought about making some traditional Irish food, and then I remembered that Irish food tastes like dirt.  A few years ago Connor and I went to Dublin and it was a wonderful and lovely place but the food is nothing to write home about.  We tried the traditional Irish boxty, which is kind of like a potato pancake with meat and sauce - yuck!  If you don't believe me, you can try making them for yourself here.  Here are a few festive pictures for the holiday.  Don't forget to wear your green! :)

100 Followers!

Yesterday I hit 100 followers!  I'm so excited that I've finally reached that number!  I've had so much fun with this blog for the past two and a half months.  Why didn't I start blogging earlier?!  I created this blog to document my life as a newlywed, but my favorite thing about blogging is the friends I've made from it!  I love all of the comments and emails and getting to know each of you more through your blogs.  It's such a treat!  I'm going to be announcing a giveaway in honor of this milestone in a few days so stay tuned!  :)

I hope you all have a wonderful day!

Wednesday Lovelies

I am taking a little break from blogging this week.  Connor and I had a mini-vacation last weekend and he's off this whole week for spring break.  When I'm home I want to spend as much time with him as possible since he's not locked in his study this week.  But, I can't pass up blogging today.  This is my favorite link-up!  Here's what I'm loving today:

 {1}
I love that our treadmill came in today!  I'm so excited to start running again and get back in shape!

{2}
I love the Draw Something app!  It is SO fun!  Right now I'm only playing Connor and my sisters, so look me up!  My username is kristenojard

{3}
I love that Connor is on spring break!  It sucks that our spring breaks aren't the same week, but it has been so nice this week with him off!  He's done all the errand running, cooking, and cleaning!  I love coming home from work and not having to do any of those things!

{4}
I love that SPRING BREAK is in T minus 2 days!

{5}
I love all my Pinterest finds!

Friday's Letters & an Award

{via}

Happy Friday Y'all!
For some, this is the beginning of spring break! It's not for me, but for my hubby it is!  I'm taking a day off work next week so that we can have a long weekend together since our spring breaks don't overlap.  Today I'm linking up with Ashley to bring you Friday's Letters!

Dear Ben,
The search is over.  Your doppelganger has been found!  I've been trying to put my finger on it all season, and here it is.
{via}

Dear Man on the Side of the Interstate,
I see you walking on the side of the road every morning at 7 AM on my way to work.  I'm pretty sure what you're doing is illegal and unsafe.  Also, why do you point at my car as I drive by?  Do you do this to every car that passes or just me?  It's really starting to creep me out.

Dear Baby Caroline,
I had so much fun feeling you kick and basically turn somersaults last weekend in your mommy's tummy!  I am so excited for you get here in May!  You can always count on being spoiled by your "cool aunt" :).  Also, you don't have a middle-name yet but I am casting my vote on Harper.  Anyone else have middle-name suggestions for Caroline? {Not that I have a say in this!}

Dear Yesterday's Commenters,
You made my day!  I was hesitant to publish that post after working on it awhile.  I honestly didn't think anyone would read it because it was so long, but you actually did and left me super sweet comments!  You're the best!

Dear Husband,
Happy spring break!  You deserve it after all your hard work in medical school!  You've already volunteered to clean out the garage {wahoo!} and have asked for a to-do list for your spring break.  Don't you worry, I'll find things for you to do! :)

--------

Now I'm switching gears to tell you about another award.  I can't believe my little ol' blog has gotten so many awards!  Laurie at The Rookie Wife nominated me for the Liebster Blog Award.  Her blog is fabulous, you should check her out!

Now what is the Liebster Blog Award?  Liebster is German and means 'dearest' or 'beloved', but it can also mean 'favorite.'  The idea behind the Liebster Award is to bring attention to blogs with less than 200 followers.  If you are selected, you need to:

1. Choose FIVE up and coming blogs to award the Liebster {they must have less than 200 followers}.
2. Show your thanks to the blogger who gave you the award by linking back to them.
3. Post the award on your blog.
4. List the bloggers you are giving this award to with links to their sites.
5. Best of all, have fun and share the love!

Here are the five blogs I am passing along the Liebster Award to!  Be sure to check them out!

Have a great weekend, everyone! :)

Our Love Story

I've done a link-up of our love story before (you can find it here), but it was just answering questions and didn't tell our full love story.  So this morning I decided to write it all down so that I can remember it always!  I'll start from the very beginning.

Connor and I met in the summer of 2007.  He's from south Alabama and I'm from western Kentucky.  We both left home to attend college at Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama.  Before school started we were both put in the same Connections Group (an orientation group for freshmen).  It wasn't love at first sight.  In fact, we hardly remember meeting each other in our group.  Connor was still dating his high school girlfriend.  I had already made a few friends at school and was eager to hang out with them so I skipped most of the Connections activities.  If only I had attended some of those events...

Fast forward a few months.  I became friends with one of Connor's friends and fraternity brothers, Andrew.  Connor had broken up with his high school girlfriend.  Andrew and Connor decided to go to the Crawfish Boil concert and were wondering who they should invite to go with them.  Connor had seen me around campus and thought I was kinda cute, so he told Andrew to invite me.  That weekend we went to the concert and I started thinking, Hey, that guy is kinda cute!  We had a great time singing along to Gavin DeGraw, Fergie, and several others that have slipped my mind.  I had caught Connor's eye and he had caught mine.  But, he had just gotten out of a relationship and I was having too much fun hanging out with friends to think about a relationship.

Summer came and we both went our separate ways.  I worked at a camp in Missouri {Kanakuk} all summer and Connor worked a summer job in south Alabama.  I made a decision while at camp that my heart completely belonged to my Savior and I would be content in remaining single until He brought my husband into my life.  I was tired of looking and being disappointed.  I wasn't going to look for a boyfriend/possible husband and would wait patiently until God brought him into my life.  Little did I know, Connor was making the same decision where he was...

School started again and my roommate and dear friend, Haley, was a Connections leader.  Her partner just happened to be Connor!  They became good friends and we started hanging out a lot.  Connor and I both started developing real feelings for each other.  I didn't want to act on those feelings, though, until I was sure it was God's plan.  We both went with groups of friends to the Samford vs. Ole Miss football game in Oxford that September.  Connor sat with me and we talked the whole game.  After that we were both smitten.

A week or two later on September 16, 2008 I was studying in my room in the sorority house and heard a tapping on my second story window.  I went to look out and Connor was standing below my window throwing rocks at it.  I'm pretty sure my heart skipped a beat!  I opened the window and Connor asked me to go on a walk with him.  I said yes, of course!

We walked around campus and found a bench by the fountain in front of the law school.  Connor told me how he felt about me and asked me to be his girlfriend.  I was in awe of how God brought us together!  A few months earlier and I had given up on finding my husband until God was ready to bring him into my life.  I wasn't expecting the perfect guy to show up so quickly!

That was only the beginning of our "love story."  When I told my oldest friend, Paige, that Connor and I were dating she said that she knew we would get married.  I wasn't as sure, but I definitely had a hunch.  By Valentine's Day we both knew that we would get married.  This was it!

We dated for the rest of our college years and made so many wonderful memories.  I will always cherish the sorority and fraternity parties, football games, coffee dates, walks around campus, road trips, movies, long talks, and hikes we spent together.  I wouldn't trade those years for anything!  One of my favorite memories is when we studied abroad together.  I was an education major and Connor was a Biology major, so our schedules never overlapped until we decided to take an art and theater appreciation class together in London.  We loved seeing plays and sightseeing all over London together.  After we finished the class, we travelled with a group of friends to Dublin, Amsterdam, Munich, Barcelona, and Paris.  I loved travelling the world with my sweetheart!

On April 17th, 2010 Connor took me to our favorite hiking place, pulled out a stunning diamond ring, and asked me to be his wife.  I was ecstatic and couldn't wait to tell all my friends and family and start planning our "perfect" wedding.  Time flew by and before I knew it we were both graduating from Samford and our wedding day was quickly approaching.

On June 4th, 2011 God united Connor and I in marriage as one.  We had a gorgeous wedding in Kentucky and an incredible honeymoon in St. Lucia.  We're still continuing our "love story" each and every day!  After we were married I told Connor about how I had put my love life in God's control the summer before we met.  He told me that he had a very similar experience that summer.  He decided to wait for God to show him the woman that He had planned for him.  We are still in awe at how perfect God's plan is!

Our first picture together! At Crawfish Boil.

In Oxford at the Ole Miss game - right before we started dating.

We talked through the whole game!
At my sorority formal - I can't believe his hair was that long!

Just got off the overnight plane to London - yuck!
One of my favorite pictures!

Another sorority party.
Right after he asked me to marry him (I may have been crying).

He gave me a bible with my new last name on it!  If I'd known he was going to propose I would've tried to look a little cuter!

I kinda love this guy!

Since then we've adopted our baby, Radley!
